Why your website needs it today
Without SSL, your site loses visitors, sales and rankings
Chrome warns your visitors that your site is not secure. Google penalizes you in search rankings. Contact forms lose credibility. An SSL certificate fixes all of that.
Green padlock in every browser
The security padlock in the address bar is the first trust signal a visitor sees. Without it, more than 80% of users abandon a page before completing a purchase or submitting a form.
Google ranks HTTPS sites higher
Google has used HTTPS as a ranking signal since 2014. All else being equal, a secure website always outranks one without SSL. It's a factor you simply can't ignore if you want organic traffic.
End-to-end encrypted data
Passwords, form data, payment information — everything travels encrypted between the visitor's browser and your server. Nobody can intercept it. The same standard used by banks.
Removes Chrome's "Not Secure" warning
Since 2018, Chrome shows a "Not Secure" warning on every website without HTTPS. That red warning destroys the credibility of any online business before the visitor reads a single line of your content.

Talk to a technician →Frequently asked questions about SSL
What is an SSL certificate and why do I need one?
An SSL certificate encrypts the connection between your website and your visitors. The visible result: a green padlock in the browser bar and an address starting with https://. Without SSL, Chrome and Firefox display a 'Not Secure' warning that scares visitors away, increases bounce rates, and hurts your Google rankings.
Is SSL really free with every miHosting plan?
Yes. Every miHosting hosting plan includes a free SSL certificate powered by Let's Encrypt, installed automatically from day one. No extra cost, no separate request, no configuration files to touch.
Does it renew itself, or do I have to do something every 90 days?
It renews itself. Let's Encrypt certificates expire every 90 days, but our system renews them automatically before they expire. You will never see a 'certificate expired' warning on your website while it's hosted with us.
What's the difference between free SSL (Let's Encrypt) and paid SSL?
The encryption level is identical — both use 256-bit encryption, the same standard as banks. The difference is the validation type: Let's Encrypt validates domain ownership (DV). OV and EV certificates also legally verify your organization, displaying the company name in the certificate. Some financial institutions and large corporations require this. For the vast majority of websites, Let's Encrypt is more than enough.
Does it work with subdomains?
Yes. The free SSL covers your main domain and its subdomains individually (www, store, blog, etc.). If you need a wildcard certificate that covers all subdomains under a single certificate (*.yourdomain.com), check out our Wildcard SSL plans.
Do I need a dedicated IP address to use SSL?
No. Thanks to SNI technology (Server Name Indication), SSL works perfectly on shared hosting without a dedicated IP. All our servers support SNI.
My website shows 'mixed content' errors after enabling HTTPS. What do I do?
Mixed content errors occur when SSL is active but some elements (images, scripts, stylesheets) still load over HTTP. In WordPress, this is easily fixed with a plugin like 'Really Simple SSL'. If you need help, our technical team guides you at no extra cost.
Does SSL affect Google rankings?
Yes. Google has used HTTPS as a ranking signal since 2014. Websites without SSL are at a disadvantage compared to secure websites under equal conditions. Additionally, Chrome actively marks HTTP pages as 'Not Secure', which increases bounce rates and indirectly hurts your SEO.
Free SSL · Automatic · Forever
Your site secured from minute one. No extra charge.
Get your hosting, point your domain, and the green padlock appears on its own. No configuration. No cost. No need to remember renewing it.
The SSL certificate has gone from a paid extra to a mandatory standard for any website. Google considers it a ranking factor. Chrome requires it to avoid showing the "Not Secure" warning. Visitors expect it before entering any personal information.
At miHosting, free SSL powered by Let's Encrypt is included in every hosting plan from day one. No need to request it, no configuration required, and no worrying about it expiring: the system renews it automatically every 90 days without any intervention. The same 256-bit encryption used by banks — available at no extra cost for any web project.
For more advanced projects — agencies with multiple subdomains, platforms with business validation requirements, or setups that need a wildcard SSL certificate — we also offer higher-level options. Our technical team (not a bot, not a call center agent) reviews your case and recommends exactly what you need.
