How Do I Activate My SSL Certificate in cPanel?
Every miHosting plan includes free SSL with automatic installation (AutoSSL). Here's how to check it and force it manually in cPanel.
Introduction
Every miHosting plan includes a free SSL certificate, whether it’s a basic or advanced plan. In cPanel, this certificate is installed automatically through AutoSSL as soon as your domain points correctly to your hosting, but you can check it or force the installation manually in a few steps.
How to check or activate your SSL in cPanel
- Log in to cPanel with your usual credentials.
- Look for the Security section.
- Open SSL/TLS Status or SSL automanager.
- Check whether your domain (and subdomains like
www) already have a valid certificate installed; they’ll show a green lock. - If it’s not active, select the domain and click Run AutoSSL to force the installation.
- Wait a few minutes while the certificate is generated and validated.
Why it might not be active yet
- The domain doesn’t point to miHosting’s DNS yet, or DNS propagation hasn’t finished.
- The domain was added very recently and AutoSSL hasn’t run yet.
- There’s a previous custom certificate causing a conflict.
Useful tips
- After installing the certificate, force HTTPS on your site so every visit uses the secure connection.
- The certificate renews automatically every 90 days: you don’t need to do anything as long as the domain keeps pointing to miHosting.
- If you have several domains on the same account, each one can have its own free SSL certificate.
Common problems
My site still shows “not secure”
The certificate might be installed but your site isn’t forcing HTTPS. Check your CMS settings or add a redirect in .htaccess.
AutoSSL isn’t installing the certificate
Check that the domain correctly points to miHosting’s DNS and that propagation is complete. If the problem continues, open a support ticket.
I have a paid certificate I want to use instead of the free one
You can upload your own certificate from the same SSL/TLS section in cPanel. Contact support if you need help with the installation.
Frequently asked questions
Does the free SSL cost anything?
No. It’s included with every miHosting hosting plan at no extra cost.
Do I need to renew it manually?
No. AutoSSL renews the certificate automatically before it expires.
Conclusion
In most cases you don’t need to do anything: AutoSSL installs your free SSL certificate as soon as the domain points to miHosting. If you want to check it or force the installation, open SSL/TLS Status in cPanel and run AutoSSL.
