If you have a reseller contract at miHosting, you can also configure your own DNS. Below we explain how to achieve this step by step.
What will my DNS be called?
You’ll have 3 DNS, and they always follow the same naming convention. To the domain name you want to turn into a DNS server, the prefixes (ns1, ns2, and ns3) are added in front.
For example. Let’s think about the domain miHosting.net, the DNS servers would be:
ns1.mihosting.net
ns2.mihosting.net
ns3. mihosting.net
Let’s imagine you have a domain called pepegoterayotilio and you want to use it as a DNS server, then the DNS names will be:
ns1.pepegoterayotilio
ns2.pepegoterayotilio
ns3.pepegoterayotilio
What will the IPs of my DNS servers be?
They will be the same as those of our DNS servers. To find out what they are, we always have them published in our support section under the title What are miHosting’s DNS?
What steps should I take to set up my own servers?
- Create the child DNS.
These child DNS are created at your domain’s registrar, and are created with the data we’ve indicated in the sections above.
If your domain is registered at miHosting, open a ticket requesting the creation of the child DNS and our technicians will create them for you.
- Add the subdomains ns1, ns2, and ns3 to your DNS configuration. At mihosting.com, to explain this process, the best and easiest way is for you to watch the following video:
