What is an SSL EV certificate? Are they worth it?

I think we all know what an SSL security certificate is, but quickly and without getting into complications, we’ll say that an SSL certificate allows the data your domain sends and receives to travel encrypted. This provides greater security for all transmissions.

At this point, Google has practically forced all users to use SSL certificates. And frankly, I think that’s a good call. So your website most likely has an SSL certificate installed. At the very least, all of our clients have a free SSL certificate included with their hosting service.

So what does the EV extension mean?

Now the question that comes up is… what does the EV extension actually mean?

Well, EV stands for Extended Validation.
