Is it compatible with the tools I already use with Amazon S3?
Yes. We implement the Amazon S3 API, so boto3, rclone, AWS CLI, Cyberduck, s3cmd and most libraries and applications that speak S3 work without changing code — just point them to the miHosting endpoint and your access keys.
How exactly is it billed?
The base price includes 1 TB of storage and 1 TB of egress traffic per month. If you use more, you're billed per additional TB of storage and per additional TB of egress traffic. Ingress traffic and traffic within the European Union are always free, and API calls have no extra cost.
What is object locking and what is it for?
It's a lock that prevents an object from being deleted or overwritten for a period of time, even with the correct credentials. It's mainly used to protect backups against ransomware or accidental deletion, and to meet regulatory retention requirements.
Can I use it as the destination for my backup software?
Yes. Being S3-compatible, it works as a destination in most modern backup software: Duplicati, Veeam, restic, Borgmatic or any tool that supports S3 storage as a backend.
How many buckets can I create?
Up to 100 buckets per account, with a limit of 100 TB and 50 million objects per bucket.
Where is my data stored?
In data centers in Germany and Finland. All data stays within the European Union, with guaranteed GDPR compliance.
Do I need a minimum contract or volume commitment?
No. It's billed monthly based on what you actually use, with no minimum contract or term.
